Ok, so I just joined this forum to *try* and help with testing this hack version, and I hope I can at least be of assistance in finding some bugs  :D I just installed your latest 'beta' version of the hack onto my Canon A2200, and my quickest finding was that, no different from the previous versions I have tried, trying to use the override subject distance crashes the camera when using that feature out of alt mode. I hope this can be fixed, that's one of the best things the hack 'theoretically' does for a camera.

Which firmware do you have (1.00B/C or 1.00D)? Without that info any report is useless, since I can't tell which camera is affected :P

Also, for override subject distance to work, the camera first needs to be put in to Auto Focus Lock.

First impressions (1.00D):
  • If I start the camera directly into shoot mode by long pressing, the menu is still in colour, but the battery indicator and histogram revert to black and white. But if I start it in play mode and then switch, no problem.
  • The splash screen has reverted to the old black and white mess regardless of how I start the camera.
  • When I use the smile button to switch to <alt> and back, the original/canon OSD resets to the off position.
  • Also, the menu colours remain the old ones, with shoot mode menu looking much better than play mode, same as before.

Whoops! Sorry, I'm using the 1.00D version, and, as a side note, I have confirmed the same problems that the previous post mentions. Also, not sure if it is a bug or I am doing something wrong, but using the Half press + direction button options ofter don't work quite as expected. Sometimes after I turn overrides back on after turning them off, the 'NO OVERRIDES' text still shows, but the overrides are actually off. Does anyone else find this?

EDIT: I do like the new smile switch for alt mode, it is a LOT more convenient, however that bug mentioned in the previous post will have to be fixed I guess....

Hi, i'm using  the latest firmware version 1.00b. I think that bracketing doesn't work: i set the parameters in the "Bracketing in continuous mode" menu, then i set the custom timer (for example, 1 second for delay and 3 shots). After shots, the 3 images are all the same, the EV value doesn't change. I'm doing all the steps following the tutorial (...i hope!). PS. Good work!  :)

Does it show BRACKET: on the screen ?
Please report all your settings from the CHDK bracketing menu here...

No, i can't see BRACKET on the screen!

This is the configuration:

ALT mode:

In "Extra photo operations":
   Disable overrides: off
      Include autoiso & bracketing: yes

In "Bracketing in continuous mode":
    TV bracketing value: 2 EV
        Subj. Dist. Bracket Value: 0
    ISO bracketing value: OFF
        Value factor: 0
    Bracketing Type: +/-
Clear Bracket Values on Start: yes
    Add RAW suffix: no

Normal mode (Canon mode): P mode

Custom self timer: 1 second delay, 3 shots

Do you need other informations? PS. i follow the instructions here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Italian/bracketing

I have tried bracketing with the same setup as the post above, and it dosen't work. The BRACKETING notification seems to disappear in Custom self timer mode. However, bracketing does work in continuous mode without Custom self timer, although it's pretty useless because when holding down the shutter button there is always some level of shaking...

Probably needs "#define CAM_DRIVE_MODE_FROM_TIMER_MODE 1" in platform_camera.h for bracketing to work with the self timer.
